Dr. Chhabra joined The Eye Clinic of Florida and their team of ophthalmologists in August 2008. He has stellar credentials!

He attended medical school at Boston University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Summa Cum Laude. His internship was at Harvard, where he was the Medical House Officer 2003-2004. He completed his eye surgery training at two of the most respected institutions in the world--- Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami (ranked #1 in the USA). He is fellowship trained in Cornea and Anterior Segment Diseases.

Dr. Chhabra is a leader among his fellow ophthalmologists. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is the recognized ophthalmology board by the American Board of Medical Subspecialties. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Catarct and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and the Florida Medical Association (FMA). For the past 2 years, Dr. Chhabra has been an officer of the Tampa Bay Ophthalmology Society. He is also on the board of directors for the Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO) and is the Co-Chairman of the Public Relations Committee.

He has helped to advance the field of ophthalmology through his research. During his medical school years, he participated in basic science ophthalmology research projects at The Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary (The Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology). In the past 5 years, he has published several clinical ophthalmology research papers in prestigious peer reviewed journals including: Ophthalmology, Cornea, The American Journal of Ophthalmology, and The British Journal of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Chhabra performs Laser Vision Correction, Corneal Transplants and Cataract Surgery as well as treating general ophthalmology patients. He is certified on the VISX Excimer Laser, the IntraLase Femtosecond Laser, the Amadeus Microkeratome, and the Endoscopic Cyclophotocoagulation Laser.

He has won numerous awards of excellence, including: The Patients' Choice Award 2008 and 2009 and America's Top Ophthalmologist 2009 for cataract surgery, as well as lasik refractive surgery--from the Consumer Research Council of America.

Dr. Chhabra is a native of Tampa and attended Jesuit High School, where he graduated Valedictorian of his class. He is married and is a proud father of two children.
