The Benefits of Choosing The Eye Clinic of Florida
Our Dropless or One Generic Drop surgical technique cuts down on hassle, dry eye, and the cost of hundreds of post-op eye drops.
No pre-operative fees for medical clearance, EKG, chest X-ray, or bloodwork for routine cases – testing science shows is often unnecessary.
No pre-operative astigmatism testing fees, and laser-free cataract surgery with no added charges unless you choose a premium lens or serious astigmatism correction.
We never charge extra for Monovision – a savings of up to $1,800 compared to some other practices.
On presbyopia-correcting lens implants, including multifocals and Crystalens-family lenses.
Saved for patients, Medicare, and insurance companies by cutting wasteful spending while delivering the highest quality of care.
A detailed look at the premium lens implant options we proudly offer, for every lifestyle:
Known as the #1 choice for cataract patients seeking a full range of clear vision, PanOptix lenses provide exceptional clarity for near, intermediate, and distance tasks – ideal for reading, computer work, and outdoor activities.
Crafted to meet modern visual demands, Envy offers consistent vision with precision and sharpness – ideal for patients juggling professional and recreational activities who need clarity for work, driving, and reading.
A great option for patients seeking enhanced visual adaptability, including clarity in low-light environments. Odyssey offers steady, dependable everyday vision with great flexibility and reduced visual discomfort in challenging lighting.
One of the most advanced lens implants for presbyopia, Crystalens mimics the eye’s natural focusing ability for smooth transitions between distances – reading, phone use, and scenic views – without glasses.
A variation of Crystalens that also corrects astigmatism. Ideal for patients with corneal irregularities who want clarity across all distances while addressing astigmatism-related distortion in the same procedure.
Patients taking Flomax sometimes face unique challenges during cataract surgery due to its effect on the iris. We use specialized techniques paired with tailored lens options to ensure safe, effective surgery and excellent outcomes.

What to Expect During Cataract Surgery
- No pre-operative exam with a cardiologist or internist needed for routine cases – no EKG, chest X-ray, or bloodwork. Save $200 or more with us.
- Only one drop, once a day, for 3 days before and 7 days after surgery for most patients – 100x more effective at preventing infection than standard drops, and $300 less expensive.
- The average patient spends less than 90 minutes at our center; the surgery itself takes only a few minutes.
- IV-Free options available – no breathing tubes used. Most patients describe simply "not caring" or feeling like they're at the best happy hour ever.
- The cloudy, natural cataract lens is liquefied with ultrasound and removed through a small opening; the capsule is left in place to hold your new lens implant.
- You should not drive the day of surgery – your eye will likely be dilated for a few hours. Same-day post-op appointments are available, and a hotel is two doors down for traveling patients.
- Most patients can see soon after surgery and drive again the next day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know Before You Decide
The most common signs include blurry or cloudy vision, difficulty seeing at night, sensitivity to light and glare, seeing halos around lights, faded or yellowed colors, and the need for frequent prescription changes in glasses or contact lenses.
For the overwhelming majority of patients, no. We use two oral medicines (no IV) on over 95% of patients to relax you without fully sedating you – most patients don't even remember the procedure. The same numbing eye drops used in clinic are used at the surgery center, just longer-acting. We can adapt to almost any anesthetic need, and most patients tell us the process was far easier than they expected.
Dropless cataract surgery eliminates the need for multiple post-operative eye drops, saving you time and money and reducing dry eye after surgery. Perfected over 12 years, our approach is 100 times more effective at preventing infection compared to traditional drop-based methods – meaning a safer surgery and a smoother recovery.
We don't restrict your options like some surgery centers do – we offer all 3 leading choices. In general, each offers improved distance, intermediate, and near vision with milder nighttime side effects than older lens implants. Envy has the best astigmatism correction range of the three and is easy to replace if needed (under 1 in 300 chance). PanOptix tends to make shorter patients happier. Odyssey has very few nighttime side effects but may not suit very small pupils. Dr. Mahootchi will review the options with you during your consultation so you can choose together.
Modern presbyopia-correcting lens implants work best with little to no residual prescription, and it can take more than 2 weeks to truly evaluate how a lens implant is functioning. About 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 patients love their near vision but want to try something different in the other eye due to night vision. We always do the more forgiving, non-dominant eye first – the need for a lens enhancement is 1/5 as common this way, and it allows smarter choices for the second eye.
Most patients can resume daily activities, including driving, as soon as the next day. Full recovery varies, but the majority experience significant vision improvement within 24 hours with minimal restrictions during healing.
