Why Plant City Patients Come North

Plant City sits between Tampa and Lakeland. Both usually quote big-city prices. Coming twenty minutes north changes the number without changing the technology.

Premium lens implant upgrades at $2,250 per eye for a trifocal or extended depth of focus implant. Tampa and Lakeland centers commonly quote $3,500 to $4,000 for the identical lens.

Ahad Mahootchi, MD, performs every consultation, every procedure, and every follow-up personally, with more than 30,000 procedures behind him since 1997.

Honest quoting for both paths. Some patients want every premium feature available. Others want the covered procedure done well, with one upgrade that fixes their main problem. We price both and let you pick.

Our own surgery center on site, Medicare approved, Florida licensed, and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), so nothing routes to a hospital.

Dropless surgery replaces the usual four-week schedule of three eye drops with one generic drop or none. That is one less errand at the end of a rural two-lane drive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between wet and dry macular degeneration?

Dry age-related macular degeneration is the slow form, where the central retina thins gradually over years. Wet is the form where abnormal blood vessels grow and leak under the retina, and it can take central vision in weeks rather than years. The National Eye Institute reports that the dry form accounts for the large majority of cases, but dry can convert to wet, which is why monitoring matters. Our macular degeneration page describes how we treat each.

Is ptosis repair considered medically necessary or cosmetic?

Ptosis means an upper eyelid that sits low enough to cover part of the pupil. Whether the repair counts as medical depends on whether that eyelid blocks your vision, and often it does. When a visual field test confirms the obstruction, insurance generally treats the repair as medical rather than cosmetic. When it is purely an appearance concern, it is cosmetic and paid out of pocket. Our cosmetic and eyelid services page covers both, and a visual field test settles which one you are.

What causes corneal disease and how is it treated?

Corneal disease covers several conditions affecting the clear front window of the eye. Causes range from inherited conditions such as Fuchs' dystrophy, which slowly clouds the cornea, to infection, injury, and long-term contact lens wear. Treatment follows the cause, from medicated drops for infection to a partial or full corneal transplant for advanced scarring or swelling. Our corneal disease page explains what the exam involves. A cloudy cornea also affects which lens implant is appropriate, so it matters before any lens surgery.
